BIO
Augusta Wood is a visual artist who uses photography as a fluid and flexible medium, exploring the interplay of perceived time and the elusive nature of memory. Through collage-like techniques, she combines separate images into layered, dynamic compositions that evoke a sense of both presence and absence. Her work often blurs the distinction between constructed elements and spontaneous observations, investigating the intersection and overlap of past, present, and future moments.
Wood holds an MFA from the California Institute of the Arts and a BFA from the Cooper Union. Her photographs are held in major collections such as the Los Angeles County Museum of Art, the Museum of Contemporary Art Los Angeles, and The George Eastman Museum. She has exhibited at notable venues including LACMA, The George Eastman Museum, Torrance Art Museum, Anton Kern Gallery, and The Maki Collection. Her work has been featured in respected publications including the Los Angeles Times, Flaunt, Artillery, and Harper’s Magazine.
Wood lives and works in Los Angeles.
